STEP 1: CAKE TASTING

At Shorebreak Cafe we believe that the taste of your cake is just as important as its design.  We offer a variety of both classic and unique flavor palettes. Our most popular flavors are Chocolate, Lemon, and Vanilla Chocolate Chip! 

We offer complimentary in-person cake tastings for up to 2 guests.  Additional tasting samples can be purchased for $10 more per guest.  Cake Tastings are offered by reservation only, daily between the hours of 11:30am-1:30pm.  Please email info@shorebreakcafe.com for inquiries and to reserve your tasting.

Wedding Planning

  • Booking is now open!  A 50% deposit and a signed contract is required to secure our availability for your event date. The final balance is due 2 weeks before your event. 

  • Tastings can be booked during our regular operating days from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM.   

  • Weddings come in all sizes! If you’re planning a micro-wedding or just need a small single tier cake, we’d be happy to design this with you. However, please be aware that these smaller orders do not qualify as a full-service wedding, including complimentary tasting and wedding day delivery and setup. We can make pick up arrangements for the day prior or morning of your event date.

The cake design is an equally important step in the cake planning process, and perhaps the most exciting!  With so many customizable options, choosing your design direction can be overwhelming.  Take some time to gather the style ideas that attract you- are you more of a fondant or buttercream kind of couple? Do you prefer fresh flowers or no flowers?  Clean lines or naked cake? The options are wonderfully endless so take some time to form preferences. We are always ready to guide you in this process and look forward to discussing your vision at the tasting.

STEP 2: INSPIRATION & RESEARCH

STEP 3: CHOOSE YOUR CAKE SIZE

The number of cake servings a cake provides is ultimately determined by the person who cuts the cake. We determine the appropriate cake size by the number of total guests and the typical size of a wedding cake slice, which is smaller than a classic celebration cake.  Choosing your cake size first will help inform your design choices, possible number of flavors, and the price range. We can start the process with the most common sizes and tier combinations, and then guide your design goals from there. 

  

Our wedding cakes are priced to include a simple, elegant design, starting at $8/serving for buttercream styles, and $10/serving for fondant styles. The pricing varies greatly based on the cake design and number of tiers chosen.  Once we have a better understanding of your style choices, we can provide a more accurate quote. 

 

BEHIND-THE-SCENES CAKE SERVINGS: (commonly referred to as “sheet” cake) 

We offer what we call our behind-the-scenes cakes, which are undecorated sheet cakes that will look identical to the interior layers of your tiered cake. These cakes are kept behind-the-scenes with your caterer and are sliced as supplement servings of the tiered display cake. These cakes are priced differently as they are undecorated and require less time to create. Since these cakes have no decor, they are priced at $200 per cake.  A sheet cake will serve 50 people. We will guide you in selecting the combination and quantity of both the tiered cake and behind-the-scenes cake that is needed to accommodate your guests. Please keep in mind that we require a minimum investment of a 6”/8” tiered display cake to qualify for the addition of behind-the-scenes-cake.

 

Our delivery /set up fee is $50 and delivers within a 25 mile radius.  We can deliver further, but additional fees may apply.  We will gladly speak with you to determine what is best for your venue location.

We recommend opting for our delivery/set up service to avoid any issues or stress on your wedding day.  Our professional delivery ensures that your cake arrives at your venue on time and in perfect condition. Our team understands the delicate nature of transporting cakes and coordinates with your planner, florist, venue, etc. to allow a seamless transaction and timeline.

STEP 4: CHOOSE YOUR FLAVORS

Get ready for some fun! You are now ready to begin selecting the perfect combination of flavors that will delight you and your guests. When considering flavors options, you will first choose your cake and filling flavors- the interior of your cake.  The exterior flavor offers a choice between buttercream and fondant. This decision is determined by your cake design choice.

 

FILLING:  Cake filling options come in various flavors of buttercream, ganache and mousse.  The addition of fruit jams, pastry cream and curds are also available.

EXTERIOR OPTIONS: The exterior flavor of your cake will ultimately be determined by your cake design.  You can choose between buttercream and fondant.  Buttercream is a classic vanilla flavor and can be beautifully finished in a variety of textured designs or classic smooth.  Buttercream can also be tinted any color to enhance your design.  Fondant is a sugar paste that is rolled out and draped over your cake. There will still be a thin layer of buttercream that will adhere the fondant to the cake.  Fondant sometimes gets a “bad rap”, but it is beautiful and tastes similar to marshmallow.

You may be wondering if you can choose more than one flavor combination for your tiered cake. The best way to answer this is to consider how you want the venue to serve your cake. Offering multiple flavors works best if the cake slices will all be displayed or butler-passed. In this case, guests will be able to choose the flavor they’d enjoy, as opposed to slices being served to each place setting.

STEP 5: DESIGN

The cake design you select ultimately determines the final price of your cake.  There are endless possibilities from simplistic minimalist styles to intricate hand painted fondant creations.  We ask that you provide inspiration photos so that we can help guide you to your perfect cake! Keep in mind that all cake artists have their own style, and we cannot exactly replicate another artist’s design. We will work with you to keep your selected style in mind, while creating you an original work of art unique to Shorebreak’s style. 

  

If you choose to incorporate fresh flowers in the design of your cake, you will need to collaborate with your florist.  Your florist will need to know the design and size of the cake so that they can provide the correct number of blooms and charge you accordingly.  We will coordinate with your florist to set a delivery time and to collect the flowers to decorate your cake.  We prefer to handle the flower placement ourselves to ensure safety and final design. 

  

We are also able to create sugar flowers if that is the aesthetic you prefer, but please keep in mind that sugar flowers are a work of art that take countless hours to make and will increase your quote significantly.  We are happy to discuss this option with you.  You can also opt for dried flowers.  This can be a beautiful way to enhance specific cake designs whether we use classic dried flowers or pressed dried flowers. 

  

There are many ways to incorporate flowers into your cake design.  We are happy to speak with you about your best option regarding your cake design and budget.

Wedding Day

STEP 6: DELIVERY, SET-UP & DISPLAY

The cake stand you choose can elevate the aesthetic of your cake design, completing your perfect vision. While Shorebreak Cafe does not offer cake stand or cake tower rentals, we can assist you in sourcing these items if you are interested in something specific.   We will discuss cake stand/cake tower ideas at your tasting.   We will also provide the dimensions needed to display your cake properly.   

  

Our delivery and set-up fee is $50 (within a 25 mile radius). If your venue is further than 25 miles, we can discuss a delivery and set-up fee with you at your tasting.  We will coordinate all the details of delivery with your venue and planner.  We can provide a certificate of insurance if your venue requires one, and we ask that you provide this information by the time of your deposit so we can prepare the correct documentation for your specific event.  Any cake that is 2-tier is available to be picked up by the client, but anything larger than that must be delivered.  Tiered cakes are very delicate, and our skilled team members will ensure safe transport and arrival of your cake.

MINI PASTRIES & DESSERTS

Shorebreak Cafe also offers a variety of mini pastries and sweets to enhance your dessert course! Below is a menu offering of our most popular wedding desserts, but we will gladly customize additional dessert options.  Our recommendation is 2.5 bites per person for wedding desserts. For example, if you have 200 guests then we suggest 500 pieces with the idea that each guest will take 2-3 items from the dessert buffet.  We ask that you order the desserts in 2 dozen increments of each type.  The dessert and cookie selections range between $1.50 (ie: mini cookies) to $5.00 (ie: cannoli, tarts, etc.). ​
